Terri Williams-Murray, MA, LCPC
Terri has a passion for understanding children, helping them use their strengths and overcome their hardships to grow into the strongest and healthiest person they can be. She has worked with children and families as a therapist since 1993 in Colorado, South Dakota and Montana. This work has spanned the continuum of care, including residential treatment, intensive in-home and community/school based services, school social work, and outpatient services. While she is particularly passionate about early childhood assessment and intervention, she works with children ages 2 through adolescence, as well as adults specifically related to trauma of their own or those close to them.
Terri views people’s needs through a developmental and relational lens, helping to identify needs in whatever stage of development in their lives they are having difficulty with. She works experientially with the client to meet these needs through greater understanding of themselves and establishing healthier relationships. This is done in collaboration with family and other support systems identified as important to the client. Terri has been trained in playtherapy, Theraplay, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, all experiential forms of therapy specific to children and adolescents. Other particular areas of experience and expertise include trauma, adoption, foster care, attachment, autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and anxiety. She also has a particular passion/experience in trauma both in children and adults, including being certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Re-Processing), as well as training in cognitive behavioral approaches, such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Overall, Terri’s passion is to work collaboratively with others to help ease emotional and relational distress in their lives in the healthiest way possible.
